Tadasana

Tadasana

Tadasana pose helps in improving body posture, balance and self-awareness. Tadasana is a deceptive pose as it looks simple to perform. To perform Tadasana you have to stand with your feet together, hands at your sides and eyes looking forward. Thereafter raise your toes and then place them back down on the ground. Slant the pubic bone a little forward. Lift your chest up and out, but remember when you lift your chest do it with moderation. The next step is to raise the head up and lengthen the neck by lifting the base of your skull in the direction of the ceiling. Press on into the ground with your feet and lift your legs, first the calves followed by your thighs. Start breathing and remain in the same posture and stay calm.

While you inhale feel as if the breath is coming up through the floor, rising through your legs, trunk up into your head. When you start exhaling watch your breath as it passes down from your head through the chest and stomach, legs and finally feet. Pause for some breaths; relax and repeat the same process. When you are performing the next inhaling exercise, raise your arms over your head and again pause for some breaths. Then put down your arms on exhale. Remember to warm yourself up by creating rhythm between raising and lowering of arms along with your breath. This part is very crucial in the performance of Tadasana.
