Trikonasana

Trikonasana

Trikonasana is one of the most important Yoga postures. Trikonasana stretches the spine, opens the trunk and improves balance and concentration. Rotate your left foot for about 90 degrees to the left and your right foot about 45 degrees inward. Start inhaling and lift up both your arms so that they're positioned parallel to the ground. Breathe out and turn your head to the left and look down your left arm toward your stretched out fingers. Make sure that your left knee is aligned with your left ankle. Start taking a deep breathe and stretch outward to the left, slanting the left hip down and the right hip upward.

After having stretched as far as you can, spin around your arms, letting your left hand reach down and come to rest against the inside of your calf while your right arms points straight up. Turn around and gaze at your right hand. Take deep breaths for a number of times and then inhale and straighten up. Thereafter breathe out and lower your arms. Place your hands on your hips and turn on your heels, bringing your feet to front. To complete the Trikonasana pose repeat the posture on the other side as well.
